Obama Signs Perfectly Plain Law

On October 13, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Plain Writing Act of 2010.  In essence, the new law means that everything the government writes down must be easy to understand.  This new requirement for stating things plainly applies to “covered documents,” which include those documents necessary for obtaining any federal government benefit or service or filing taxes.  By Spring, 2010, every federal agency must publish a report on the agency’s Web site illustrating […]
