East Meadow Diner to Pay for Shorting Staff

The owners of the Colony Diner in East Meadow, New York, have pled guilty to underpaying 72 workers and falsifying records. In addition to facing up to 4 years in prison, the owners, George Strifas and Thomas Strifas, have agreed to pay more than $500,000 as part of the plea. California car washes ordered to pay back wages

A group of car washes in Northern and Southern California that allegedly underpaid workers and routinely denied them breaks will pay more than $1 million in restitution for unpaid wages and civil penalties, the Los Angeles Times reported. Mattress retailer ordered to pay back wages to 96 employees

Bedding retailer Mattress Direct of Baton Rouge, La., agreed to pay more than $40,000 in back wages to 96 current and former sales associates following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Furniture Today reported.
