Marvel issues Marriage between two gay superheros in new comic

Marvel issued a new comic called “Astonishing X-Men #50”, which is expected to prompt some controversy.   The comic book character named Northstar becomes the center of attention when he prepares to go from openly gay to the first married gay superhero if his partner Kyle says yes.  Northstar first starred in “Alpha Flight,” which was a series for Marvel in the 1980s and 1990s.  His star status took a downturn when he came out as a gay man. The character promotes AIDS awareness and mental health.  See:

While discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation is not itself is not yet protected by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but this law does makes it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex.
