The fast food company, Chick-fil-A, stands for Christian values in which its 1,600 restaurants nationwide close on Sundays. However, recently the fast food restaurant took a stance on gay marriage when President Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press, “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.” Many critics have taken to the internet to oppose this statement. See
While discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation is not itself is not yet protected by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but this law does makes it illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex.
